Mostly junk abandoned there sometime after the track closed.

Unfortunately, I don't have directions. The photos were sent to me by a reader of the site who lives nearby.

The track is located on the outskirts of Blezzard Valley, just north of Sudbury.

If you want specific directions let me know by responding to this post.

As for the car parts..

I think due to its isolated location, cars may have been stolen, driven to the location and then stripped and burned.

Bob, Actually the track is not in Hanmer. Martin road runs out of Blezzard Valley directly east of Val Caron.

The City of Greater Sudbury actually has a great aerial photo of the track.

http://www.city.greatersudbury.on.ca/pubapps/ortho/index.cfm?lang=en&option=indexmap

Select the grid directly to the left of Blezzard Valley it will be in the top right corner of the image. You can actually zoom in pretty close!

Hey Matt,

Thanks, the aerial shots are great.  The place is only about 10min from my house.  Looks like its been a while since it was used alright.

  Can't wait to drop in.

thanks again.

No problem, whats funny is the pavement there. The track was dirt when it was raced on, then the owner forked out the money to get it paved and it was shut down. The pavement never say a race. Very sad...

I'm headed there today for a bit of exploring. I know where to find it, but I'm not sure what the streets are called :(

When I go again, I'll be sure to make a mental note of the streets and I'll be back with a bit of info on this! :)

Lived 10 minutes from their as a kid, my father took me to hurricane quite often, I believe it was sunday afternoons. Don,t have any pics but do have old 8mm film of motorcross races that they had there one day. The only class I can remember running there was thunder cars or whatever they called it back then.  Did go their once in late 90's and ripped around the track in my 5litre mustang and the surface(ashphalt) was still smooth as silk. (It was a dirt track when it operated).

I understand that the track would have been operational in 1964.  My mother was dating a racer at that time that died there as a result of a crash.

to get to the track, you turn left at esso in valcaron, follow the road far down till you get to an intersection with martin road, turn right on martin road, follow it a ways down, till you come to a road on the left, turn there and follow it till you get to dirt road, then its a grown in trail on the right. not hard to find. have patience though.

I went there tonight looking for it, but could not see it. I know which street it is on, and drove a while on the fireroute... Where exactly is it? I tried to  go down the road after it turns to dirt straight at the first left bend, and besides that not much ....  at the very end of the road, there is another street but that seems further than what Ive seen posted...

Visited this track many times growing up through out elementary school, always did a few laps on our peddle bikes with friends. Took an atv ride to check it out again. First time going back in over 7 years and the entrance is now gated off with two green gates chained shut. The main trail going up to the track has been cleared and is now ~3times as wide at the original entrance, the work was done with an excavator. No idea what is going on there now. Looks like new property owners now.

I believe 10-12 years ago some dude and his buddies started to do excavation work and stuff  with intentions of reopening the place as a concert/racetrack venue type place, before they got any approval from the township or whoever... they were promptly shut down. Thats all I know, moved out of Val Caron 11 years ago, did hear recently that plans are in the works for a racetrack in the Sudbury region somewhere, GOOD LUCK!!!!
