Another Richmond style track would be good. The drivers and fans like that track and it makes for good racing.

Great news !!

The track sure does have some great tho!!! Its seen alot of racing over the years, you name it Supers with the likes of Shampine,Coniam,Warren,Late

Model Supersocs and the old Nascar Nort series with the likes of Evans and

Troyer.

Great racing history with hopefully a great racing future!!

It'll be great to see the investment in a true race facility coming north of the border. I like the short track (heats, semis and features) provide plenty of racing action. More starts finishes, race to the finish and of course passing that relly means something.

We don't need another yawn Nascar type track. Nascar (whatever they call their top division now) starts one race and has one finish each weekend. Those are excirting points in a race. The rest of the Nascar 4 hour borefest, if you are lucky, generates some meaningful passing. Crashes are exciting but they occur a incidently to the actual racing.

Hard nose racing--- You can't beat short track. Leave Nascar to the star struck idol worshippers. Keep short track (the real racing) alive in Southern Ontario.

Great to hear of the cayuga make-over and not just a paint-over fixer up.

IMHO FWIW

Great  plans  for   Cayuga  Speedway. Would  also  like  to  see  an  oval  track  Indy  car  event  here  in  Canada.Hopefully  the  new  track  will  be built  and  not  end  up  like  the  much  talked  about  super  oval  that  was to  be  built  outside  of the  Windsor  city  limits  and  ended  up  as  just  another  field  of  dreams  facility.

Unfortunately I'll have to say I'll believe it when I see it. Anyone else remember the multi purpose track (drags and superspeedway) that was supposed to be built around Niagara Falls? I really, really want to see this place built but I've heard way to many "rumours" over the years. Everyone has great intensions but whether it was money or local governments wanting their peice of the pie something always caused the track to never be built. Hopefully I'm wrong on this one though.

Cayuga is different in that the track already exists - it's just being rebuilt.  It's always harder to get a new facility approved.

Well if this true lets bring some true racers to this track
open wheel supers & mod with big blocks not these door slamers with their mouse engine junk. Supers & mods set the pace in the 50s &60s and should have a track to race at to the reader of this the supers all started here in Canada.
Men like Harvey Lennox,Jack Greedy Jimmy Howard made supers big time in Canada & if it were not for them there would be no Cayuga Speedway.

That's great news to hear. I remember the old days when the ASA's would come once a year. But please don't cut corners, it should be at least a 5/8 mile track. GOOD LUCK! I look forward to returning.

I see all the excitement in the changes being done to Cayuga.   I have been a stock car racing fan for years in the Golden Horseshoe and I have to say that this area is for stock car racing is like the CFL, if it is not American we do not want it.

I was a kid in the area and the returnerned to New brunswick and in 86 returned back to the area, and at that time there were several good series to follow.  We had the ACT with  good amount of Canadian competitors, along with the ASA here twice annually and again with Junior and a few others being able to compete.  Then there was the CASCAR Super Series that came along, and with this was started it was to me a London versus Toronto versus Ottawa series.  Each track ran their own regular programs weekely and then had a Super Series race every other weekend in Ontario, which I traveled to several.  Then they tried to make it a National Series and from thsi I lost interest in the series along with the CNE closing and the drivers only running the Series and not weekly.  I think that the pavement tracks of this area need to group together like the dirt tracks of the Niagara area and work together and not against each other.   I live in Mississauga and have been to Merrittville twice this season and loved the show.

how about making it a multi purpose track, with a road course using some of the bannking and infield.(like DAytona.Pocono,etc.) Not on such a large scale, but it would be nice. There is alarge number of racers in southern Ontario who would love to have a great track nearby.

When I spoke with Dean Rose he said they would not do that because there is a road course at the Toronto Motorsports Park very close by. Their intention is to work with other tracks in Ontario, rather than against them.

Is there any construction going on at Cayuga? I now live in midwest USA, home is Simcoe, Ont and I need to plan a great Canadian race weekend somewhere. Any info would be appreciated.

HAs anybody heard anything in the last month or two? The Cayuga web page http://www.cayuga2000speedway.com/ (if this is still the page) isn't carrying any info. Anybody living west of KW hearing any rumours?

From what I understand, the track will run in '07 as it presently is. Something to do with getting permits or site plan approvals etc. which normally take some time to get. Supposed to be some good shows there next year.

With all the talk about the size that Cayuga should be - how about making it 5/8 of a mile.  That's right, leave it the size that it is.  With the awesome racing that we have seen there, why change it.  Often, bigger and it gets boring to watch.  Bring back the supers and the late models and lets go racing.  Spruce it up, add some seats and bring in some top notch racing like it used to when Bob Slack was in charge.  I have awesome memories from that old place.  And if it has to be changed, leave the gap in the front straight wall - the cars make a wicked sound when they go by.

Just add a bit of banking and the track will be awesome. I just think it's a little to flat for good two groove racing.
